Privacy Policy

Information you give us.

• Account information: your email address and, if you choose one, a password (stored only in protected, hashed form by our authentication provider). If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and basic profile details such as your name.
• Profile information: username, display name, profile photo and bio.
• Date of birth, used to confirm eligibility. It is stored separately and is not shown on your profile.
• The time you accepted our Terms and this Privacy Policy.
• Content you create: posts, uploaded photos, videos and GIFs, comments, replies, reposts, bookmarks and Moments.
• Messages you send, along with conversation metadata such as participants, timestamps, and delivered and read status.
• Workspace content: projects, tasks, notes and attached files.
• Conversations with the E.D.I.T.H. AI assistant.

Information collected automatically. When you use the service, our hosting and authentication systems record technical information needed to operate and secure it, such as IP address, browser and device type, sign-in events and error logs. Display preferences such as dark or light mode are stored on your own device, not on our servers.

• to show your profile and content to other members and power the feed, replies, reposts and Moments;
• to deliver private messages to the people you are talking to;
• to provide search and discovery, including Explore and popular topics;
• to send notifications about likes, comments, follows and messages;
• to provide AI features you ask for and to store your AI chat history for you;
• to provide your private Workspace;
• to keep the service reliable, fix problems and prevent abuse, fraud and unauthorised access;
• to meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not show third-party advertising.

Your profile (username, display name, photo, bio, follower counts), posts, replies, reposts and active Moments are visible to other signed-in members, and can be found through search. Please think about what you choose to publish.

Private messages are intended only for the participants of a conversation and are protected by access rules that limit them to those participants. Workspace content, bookmarks, notifications and AI conversations are restricted to your account by our access controls. Your date of birth is visible only to you.

Uploaded media is stored in private storage areas organised by account (and by conversation for chat media). Files are not publicly listed; they are delivered through short-lived, signed links generated for members who are allowed to see them. Profile photos and post media can be viewed by signed-in members; chat media only by conversation participants; Workspace files only by you.

When you use the E.D.I.T.H. AI assistant or AI actions, the text you send and the relevant context needed to answer you are sent from our servers to an AI model provider, which generates a response. Your AI conversations are saved to your account so you can return to them, and you can delete them. AI is only used when you ask for it; we do not run AI on your private messages or Workspace content in the background.

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete a post, comment, Moment, AI conversation or Workspace item, it is removed from the app. Messages you delete are marked as deleted and their content is no longer shown to participants. Moments stop being shown after about 24 hours, though their files may remain in storage for a period afterwards.

To delete your whole account, contact us. We will delete your account and associated content, except information we need to keep for legal reasons, security or dispute resolution. Backups and logs are overwritten on a rolling basis.

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), database access rules that limit each type of data to the people allowed to see it, private file storage with expiring links, and server-side handling of sensitive keys. No online service can be perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; please keep your sign-in details safe and tell us if you notice anything suspicious.

• Hosting, database, file storage and authentication providers that run the service on our behalf;
• Google, if you choose to sign in with Google;
• an email delivery provider to send sign-in codes and account emails;
• AI model providers, to generate responses when you use AI features.

These providers process information only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of people or the service.

E.D.I.T.H. is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. We ask for a date of birth at sign-up and do not allow accounts for anyone under 13. Where local law requires a higher age or parental consent, that requirement applies. If you believe a child under the required age has an account, contact us and we will remove it.

You can view and edit your profile in Settings, delete your content, and request deletion of your account. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, or to object to certain uses. Contact us to make a request.

We may update this Privacy Policy as E.D.I.T.H. evolves. We will update the date at the top, and if changes are significant we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
