Close the tutorial. Test the skill. A lesson can feel clear while you’re watching it because the instructor is doing the hard work: choosing the next step. Recognition feels like knowledge, but the real test begins when the prompts disappear. After learning something useful, spend ten minutes recreating a small version from memory. Write the spreadsheet formula in a blank sheet. Explain the concept without your notes. Build the simplest example without copying the code. Keep the attempt small enough to finish. When you get stuck, name the exact gap before looking anything up. “I don’t understand this” is hard to act on. “I can filter one condition, but not combine two” gives you a precise next lesson. Then check the answer and try that part again. Tomorrow, repeat the task with one detail changed. That small variation helps reveal whether you learned the method or memorized the example. What could you try from memory today instead of watching another explanation? #EDITHDaily
