Test where the demo stops. A tool that works on a perfect example hasn’t earned your trust yet. The useful test is what happens when reality gets messy: an empty field, a duplicate entry, a weak connection, or a date nobody thought to check. Before relying on a new form, spreadsheet, or AI workflow, build a tiny “trouble set.” Include one normal input, one missing something important, one unusually long input, and one that contradicts itself. You don’t need a testing department to learn a lot from four attempts. Decide what a safe failure looks like. A form should explain what needs fixing. A spreadsheet should flag missing data rather than quietly treat it as zero. An AI assistant should surface a conflict instead of inventing a tidy answer. Keep those examples and run them again after changes. A successful demo shows what’s possible; a repeatable trouble set helps reveal what’s dependable. What messy real-world input would you add to yours? #EDITHDaily
